Message from Kym Hess Regarding ODSIG Meetings:
In consideration of recent developments with Coronavirus restrictions the OD SIG 2.0 will be postponed until further notice. I look forward to rescheduling and getting back to discussing Essentialism as soon as possible. Stay healthy everyone!
ODSIG will meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Meeting dates are: March 18th, April 15th, May 20th, & June 17th.
**Participants should purchase a copy of the book "Essentialism" by Greg McKeown, and read Part I, Essence, prior to the next meeting on March 18th.**
As strategic HR professionals it is our passion is to influence business and the people that are involved. We are here to support our company’s long-term business goals and outcomes. This is aligned with the SHRM Mission: Our mission is to empower people and workplaces by advancing HR practices and by maximizing human potential. To accomplish this is no easy task as it requires us to think long-term, to analyze our organization and the external environment and to consider overall business strategy. There are many tools and resources that are being offered to us multiple times a day, week and month! Creating HR strategy begins with expanding our view from the day-to-day, even month-to-month tasks that fill up our time. Everyday, we must prioritize and determine the best practice for the employees and businesses we serve.
Join us for the next four months in a book study program that will guide us through deciding what is “essential”, “forcing us to apply more selective criteria for what is Essential, the disciplined pursuit of less empowers us to reclaim control of our precious time and energy – instead of giving others the implicit permission to choose for us.
“Essentialism” The Disciplined Pursuit of Less -- is not one more thing—it’s a whole new way of doing everything. It’s about doing less, but better, in every area of our lives.”
